Everything you need to know
ElectricityPlans.com is a Texas-based independent electricity marketplace that helps individuals, families, and businesses compare and enroll in energy plans. We provide structured plan information and comparison tools for customers in deregulated markets including Texas, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut. We are not affiliated with any utility or provider — 100% independent.
We work with a select list of licensed providers that fit our editorial guidelines — including brand reputation, management, and uniqueness of offer. We bring on new providers regularly. If you don’t see yours, you can compare all providers at the Texas state-sponsored shopping website, PowerToChoose.org.
Texas providers are required to disclose rates at 500, 1,000, and 2,000 kWh. They advertise the tier that looks best — but that may not be your usage level. Bill credits, tiered pricing, and base charges mean the rate you see often only applies at one specific usage point. Our BillSmart tools show your real estimated bill.
The EFL is a standardized disclosure document all Texas electricity providers must provide. It shows pricing at 500, 1,000, and 2,000 kWh, contract length, early termination fees, and other key terms. We pull EFL data for every plan we list so you can compare plans on a level playing field.
Because we make electricity shopping easier, not more confusing. Our goal isn’t to push a specific plan — it’s to help you choose one that actually fits your home or business. We review and standardize supplier information so you can compare plans without gimmicks or hidden surprises. We’ve been doing that since 2017.
We earn compensation from the electricity provider you select when you enroll through our platform. You never pay a fee to use our site, and the fee we receive doesn’t change the price of your plan. Providers cannot pay to be featured on our site.
No. In Texas, your local utility (like Oncor or CenterPoint) still delivers your electricity through the same lines — nothing changes about how power reaches your home. Switching providers only changes who bills you for electricity supply. There is no interruption to your service when you switch.
Enrolling in a new Texas electricity plan typically takes about 5 minutes online. Once you enroll, the switch usually takes effect on your next meter read date — typically within 14–21 days. You’ll receive a confirmation from your new provider with full details on your start date.
