How to Shift Electricity Usage to the Weekend (Free Electricity)
Here are some ways you can shift your usage to the free weekends electricity period:
- Do your laundry on the weekend.
- Spot clean during the week, then run your dishwasher and vacuum on weekends.
- Heating and cooling your home accounts for around 50% of your electricity bill. Adjust your thermostat by 3-4 degrees vs. your normal setting and use ceiling fans to cool your home during the week.
- Dress according to the weather. If it’s hot outside, wear shorts and a tank inside. If it’s cold outside, put on a sweater. Don’t always reach for the thermostat.
