Oncor TDU Delivery Charges
The Public Utilities Commission of Texas (PUCT) regulates Oncor utility delivery fees. The residential delivery fees update on March 1st and September 1st of each year.
These rates are comprised of numerous tariffs that are approved by the PUCT. These fees pay for the maintenance of the poles and wires and meters that service your home as well as any system upgrade or repair expenses from storms.
The Retail Electricity Providers (REPs) pass through these Transmission Delivery and Utility (TDU) charges to customers in the monthly electric bill. The charges are the same regardless of who supplies the electricity.

Recent arrivals in Texas often contend with one point of confusion: Who will provide electricity to their home or business? Although a growing number of states and regions have deregulated markets, most Americans obtain power directly through a utility company.
Texas has a two-part system of utility and electricity companies. In terms of energy, one generates it, and the other sells it at a competitive rate. Between these two:
- Electric utilities: These companies like Oncor generate, distribute and deliver the power in their respective service areas. Regarding outages, they restore power to homes and businesses and also repair damaged utility lines and poles. These entities are called TDSPs (Transmission and Distribution Service Providers) or EDUs (Electric Distribution Utilities).
- Electricity providers: These companies are the sellers, purchasing electricity wholesale from the utility companies.
