    About BKV Energy

    Our Quick Take

BKV Energy entered the Texas market in 2022, as an offshoot of BVK Corporation, a natural gas production company. They’ve made their name by offering only fixed rate electricity plans, avoiding the messy complications that come with fine print electricity plans. While we don’t include BKV Energy plans on our website, you can use this information to compare their rates, plans and reviews to other electricity providers.

ElectricityPlans.com is not affiliated with BKV Energy and provides this information so you can compare them with other companies. The BKV Energy company name and logo shown on this page are the property of BKV Energy.

Compare BKV Energy’s Electricity Rates and Plans

BKV Energy has three plans types, Bluebonnet, Daisy and Verbena, each created for a different sales program. Each plan has traditional energy or green energy options, so you can choose energy that’s 29% green or 100% green.

BKV Energy Daisy is their lowest priced electricity plan, only found on PowertoChoose.org.

BKV Energy Verbena is sold on comparison shopping sites. This plan is priced between Daisy and Bluebonnet. However, you won’t receive any of the rewards benefits or the rate reduction program that BKV advertises.

BKV Energy Bluebonnet is their premium-priced electricity plan with benefits. When you choose Bluebonnet, you’ll be in the BKV Energy Plus program, with access to their Reduce Your Rate program (if prices drop, they could lower your rate), monthly reward points, a monthly giveaway drawing, and an annual loyalty payout. The rate reduction program is a little complicated; if you agree to the lower rate, they’ll end your current contract and sign you to a new one, thereby extending your contract term with a new rate.

You can add BKV Energy Plus to your Verbena or Daisy plan for $9.95 per month. But remember, that adds to your average price. It’s effectively adds almost a full penny per kWh to your rate based on 1000 kWh/month. Here’s the math: $9.95/1000 kWh/month = an adder of $0.00995 to your average price per kWh. That’s NOT a good deal. If you want the Energy Plus perks, just buy the Bluebonnet plan.

TIP: For fixed rate plans with no base charge, filter by BillSmart Plan Score 5/5. Plan Score ranks plans based on their bill predictability, with the best plans offering basic fixed rates.
